Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? You’re in the right place. These FAQs and our Help Centre articles are designed to help you decide whether the Epic Beginner Bundle is right for you, and guide you through what to expect once you’ve purchased.

General

Is this suitable if I have never skied or snowboarded before?

Yes. The Epic Beginner Bundle is designed for first-timers, beginners, and guests who may be returning to snow after some time away. Your lessons focus on the fundamentals – learning how to balance, stop, turn, and feeling comfortable moving on snow – all at a pace that supports building confidence and refreshing skills, whatever your starting point.

What level are the lessons?

You’ll start your first day on snow in a beginner lesson, where everything is explained step by step. Over your next two days, you’ll be grouped with other guests at a similar level, so your lessons continue at a comfortable and supportive pace as you progress.

Do I need to be fit or athletic?

No. You don’t need to be particularly fit or athletic to take part. Lessons are designed for anyone trying skiing or snowboarding for the first time, expanding their skills as a beginner, or returning to snow after some time away, with plenty of guidance from your instructor.

Is this suitable if I’m nervous or not confident?

Yes, and you won't be the only one. Many guests feel nervous before their first day on snow. Instructors are experienced in working with beginners and will take the time to explain each step, answer questions, and help you feel comfortable as you learn.

Do I need any experience to use the lifts?

No experience is needed. Your instructor will guide you through how to use beginner lifts safely and confidently as part of your lesson.

Should I start with skiing or snowboarding?

Both skiing and snowboarding suit beginners, and the right choice depends on your interests and goals. Skiing is often chosen by first timers who prefer facing forward and using independent leg movement, while snowboarding may appeal to those who enjoy sideways board sports such as skateboarding or surfing. Whichever you choose, your lessons will help you build skills safely and make the most of your time on snow.

How long does it take to learn to ski or snowboard?

Everyone learns at a different pace. With lessons and practice, many first timers start to feel more confident on beginner runs over 3 days of lessons. Lessons are designed to help you learn the basics safely and build confidence at a pace that feels right for you.

Is the Epic Beginner Bundle available for adults and kids?

The 2027 Epic Beginner Bundle is available to adults aged 18 and over. It is intended for adults who are new to skiing or snowboarding and looking to try snow sports for the first time.

What lifts and areas can I access?

Lift access is limited to beginner terrain at Perisher, Falls Creek, and Hotham. These areas are specifically designed to help you learn and build confidence.

Intermediate and advanced lifts are not included. However, some beginner lifts may provide access to slightly longer or more varied terrain, giving you the chance to explore a little more as your confidence grows.

Note: Beginner lift access varies with conditions and is subject to change. Check resort lift reports for real-time updates.

What is Skitube and can I add it to my Epic Beginner Bundle?

Perisher's Skitube is Australia's only alpine railway and transports guests from Bullocks Flat to Perisher. It is the most convenient and reliable way to travel to and from Perisher in winter.

When purchasing the Epic Beginner Bundle, you have two options to add Skitube travel:

  • Add the Skitube Add-On when purchasing your Epic Beginner Bundle for $99 (Adult), which includes 3 day, any day return Skitube travel. This is the best value Skitube option if you plan to use all 3 days at Perisher.
  • Add Skitube as Individual day travel later, if you prefer to purchase on a day-by-day basis.

How To Use

Do the 3 days need to be consecutive, or can I use them whenever I want throughout the season?

Your three days of lift access can be used consecutively or spread throughout the 2027 Australian winter season at Perisher, Falls Creek, or Hotham: the choice is yours.

You'll reserve each day once reservations open ahead of the season.

Do I have to use the 3 days all at the same resort?

No. You can use your 3 days all at the same resort or explore each of our 3 resorts on different days: the choice is yours.

Can I ski one day and snowboard on another?

Yes. You're welcome to try both skiing and snowboarding. When you reserve your days, you'll choose skiing or snowboarding for each of your three days.

What if I love skiing or snowboarding after my 3 days? What comes next?

Epic Beginner Bundle guests will have access to the 7-day advance purchase discount rate for lift tickets throughout the remainder of the 2027 Australian winter seaso, even for same day purchases.

Can I cancel my purchase if I change my mind?

The Epic Beginner Bundle is a non-cancellable, non-refundable product, except as provided under the Australian Consumer Law and in the Epic Australia Pass Terms and Conditions (including Epic Coverage – Australia terms). Use of a Pass or payment for a Pass cannot be transferred to another person or deferred to a future season.

This product includes lesson and equipment rental components, which are also subject to the 2026 Lift, Snowsports School and Snowsports Rental terms. These terms apply to bookings, changes, cancellations, and participation conditions for those products.

Reservations

Are reservations required?

Yes. Each of your 3 days is reserved ahead of your visit, so your lesson, lift access and gear are ready and waiting for you. Reservations open ahead of the 2027 season.

When do reservations open?

Ahead of the 2027 Australian winter season. We'll email every Epic Beginner Bundle holder when reservations open, with everything you need to reserve your days. There's nothing you need to do until then.

How do I reserve my days?

Once reservations open, you'll reserve online through your Epic Australia Pass account, one day at a time: visit My Account and select 'Reservations'; assign to the Pass holder; choose your resort, using your 3 days at Perisher, Falls Creek or Hotham, together or separately; choose your date and lesson time.

Will I be able to get the dates I want?

Daily availability applies at each resort, and popular dates such as school holidays and weekends can fill. Reserving soon after reservations open, rather than closer to your visit, gives you the best choice of dates. We'll email you as soon as reservations open so you're first to know.

Can I change my reserved day(s)?

Yes. If completed more than 48 hours before your reserved date, you will be able to cancel and change your reserved date(s) online through your Epic Australia Pass account.

When are lessons available and how long are they?

2027 lesson locations, operating dates, start times and durations will be confirmed ahead of the season. You'll see the full schedule and choose your lesson times when you reserve your days in My Account. Group lessons run for 2 – 2.5 hours depending on the resort and location you're visiting.

What if I am ill or injured and cannot attend on my reserved day(s)?

If you become ill or are injured within 48 hours of your reserved day(s), you may request to change your reservation to another available date within the 2027 winter season, subject to availability. Requests must be supported by a valid medical certificate.
